Honey and Brown Sugar Scrub

Body scrubs are a great way to relax and reward our skin.  By using scrubs we exfoliate our skin, which helps to get rid of toxins without clogging pores...A well kept celebrity skincare secret to a smooth, flawless, glowing skin...Need we say more!

The honey and brown sugar scrub is one that is near and dear to my heart. It actually stands as a base to a lot of my skincare recipes. It is rich, nurturing and nourishing for the skin. It can also be mixed and match with other natural skincare ingredients for an even richer more personalized skincare treatment depending on the needs of your skin!

Before we dive into the recipe, let briefly talk about why this particular scrub is simply awesome for your skin

Just to mention a few benefits of brown sugar on the skin. It is popularly and widely used as scrub for exfoliating skin. It is a source of glycolic acid which is the smallest alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA). Because of its smallest size, these molecules can penetrate deep into the skin. It loosens the bonds of skin cells, and promotes new cell growth. Sugar facial is better than artificial glycolic treatments. It also hydrates the skin and promotes healthy skin cleansing and circulation. Those prone to acne can opt for brown sugar facials to prevent acne and pimples, and to capture that perfect selfie with glowing skin. Brown sugar facial mask also has anti-bacterial properties.

On the other hand honey (please stick to Manuka or the highest grade of honey in your local) is an absolute charm on the skin. The benefits are incredible of this innocent looking golden brown syrup on the skin. It has antibacterial and anti-septic properties and so gets rid of dirt and bacteria, perfect for both preventing and treating acne.

It is choked full of antioxidants and boosts collagen production—two things that are MVPs in preventing aging and boosting glow. It’s extremely moisturizing and hydrates even the driest of skins.

Honey is naturally soothing and has healing properties (it was traditionally used on wounds and burns to aid healing!). It also nourishes damaged skin to fade scars while works as a clarifying agent because it naturally opens up the pores, making them easier to unclog.

The enzymes in honey work as a gentle exfoliator, sloughing off dead skin cells and leaving you with a radiant complexion!

The fusion of these two powerful yet gentle ingredients means nothing short of "Hello Glow" as your skin will thank you again and again as the smoothness of your skin will be totally unrivaled even when compared against some spas.

Recipe - Ingredients * 1 Cup Brown Sugar

* 1/2 Cup of Honey

* Clean Mason Jar

Instructions In a medium size bowl, combine the brown sugar, honey and mix well. The consistency you want to go for really is personal. I personally love a thick scrub so while scoop bits of it in the shower, its able to hold its own as i use it as a loofah and apply scrub to skin while polishing and scrubbing with minimal pressure. This scrub is gently enough to use both as a facial scrub and body scrub!

Add any leftovers of the scrub to your Mason jars and stored in an airtight container in a cool dark place, or even the fridge. The scrub usually last for about 6 months if stored properly and especially away from direct sunlight.

If there is any separation or settlement occurs, simply stir the mixture.

This scrub as earlier stated can be enhanced to mix individual skincare by adding one of the following ingredients:

* Powder milk

* Oats

* Lemon Juice

Happy making!
