I totally enjoyed making this cake! You see I've got a confession…It has lingered for some years now and if you know me you will know I have been looking for ways to deal with this addiction. It is better now but still lingers and looms in the backend. What is this addiction that has me sheepish but yes truly indeed my confession…?
Coca Cola! I just love me some coke! I love that gaspy feeling you get when you take a long pull of that black soft drink, the millions of tiny bubbles literally exploding in tiny bursts in your mouth, I've had to cut down of course but Coke still is me little weakness I’m afraid.
So when I stumbled upon this coke recipe, I literally just had to try it out for myself you see. Y’all know I love me some cake, now when you pair that with one of my favorite things in the world, then you got a marriage that’s certainly not headed for divorce but to a honeymoon in paradise with the boarding call and seat numbers right in my mouth! The cake is incredibly moist and the flavor is unique. Whats more its so easy to make as it is a one bowl cake!
A wee warning before we dive in, this cake has quite a bit of sugar. There’s sugar in the cola, there’s additional sugar in the cake and even more sugar in the frosting. You might be wondering if you can reduce the sugar some way, somehow. The answer is… I don’t know, but doing so may affect the final outcome of the cake in terms of taste, texture and look. This won’t win any awards for being diabetic-friendly, for sure, but outside of health issues, I would just go ahead and adopt the “everything in moderation” mindset, grab a fork and dig in.
Now the cake having a coke in it is just one part of this extremely decadent dessert. The coke cake was then stuffed into a simulated coke bottle made with chocolate.
This cake is extremely moist and while it packs a big chocolate punch, it’s not overly rich, which I love! It is the perfect dessert and if you add a dollop of vanilla icecream this will literally have you singing for days. I’m thinking it would make a perfect Sunday cake!
Without letting more out of the bag, you totally have to watch the video!
